They’re back…and ready to battle. Are you?
The Brooklyn Arts Center is proud to host the ninth Port City Ping Pong Throwdown on Friday, January 26, once again in collaboration with the Wilmington Table Tennis Club.
Ping pong has been a popular pastime in America for decades (Forrest Gump, anyone?) and the BAC is fast approaching one decade’s worth of Throwdowns. Eight professional tables fill the first floor of the church, and matches are played until midnight and the winners are crowned. There are two draws to play in: Play for Keeps (think table tennis club members and other ping pong aficionados) and Play for Fun (think drinking a beer while you play your match, like during the point). First, second, third, fourth, and fifth place winners will receive cash prizes, and a raffle prize will be drawn as well.
The BAC Cash Bar will be open to help celebrate victories and soften losses, and a fabulous food truck will park out front and feed the masses all night long.
Registration and practice tables are open from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on the day of, and matches begin at 6:15 p.m. Tickets are available at the door: $10 for players, and $5 for spectators. For more information, check out the Wilmington Table Tennis Club’s Facebook page.
