Front Street Brewery & Brooklyn Arts Center Presents The Spirit of the Cape Fear
In August, Jay Tatum (owner of the Brooklyn Arts Center), Matt Ray (Matt Ray Photography and co-owner of Starling/MOBA), and Sam & Josh (owners of Front Street Brewery), along with members of their teams, traveled to Kentucky for an exclusive Maker’s Mark Private Selection barrel pick.
They had the honor of selecting their barrel alongside Maker’s Mark Master Distiller Dr. Blake Layfield—a Clinton, NC native and proud NC State alum—who has led innovation at Maker’s since 2019.
After a private distillery tour and guided tasting, the group selected a unique stave profile that is now aging and nearly ready for bottling.
Save the Date
The custom release will debut at a special ticketed event on Friday March 6, 2026 at the Brooklyn Arts Center, with Dr. Layfield and Maker’s representatives joining us in Wilmington for the celebration. Expect an evening of live music, great food, bourbon tastings, an open bar, and a silent auction.
All proceeds will benefit Cape Fear River Watch, a partner deeply aligned with Maker’s ongoing commitment to sustainability.
